Nagpur: Following the resounding success of the Indian safari at the Balasaheb Thackeray Gorewada Zoological Park, the Forest Development Corporation of Maharashtra (FDCM) is set to unveil an African safari experience. This ambitious endeavor aims to further elevate the park’s appeal, offering visitors a glimpse into the captivating wilderness of Africa within the Indian landscape.
To ensure the seamless execution of this project, the FDCM has enlisted the expertise of Bernard Harrison, a renowned consultant based in Singapore. Harrison and his team have meticulously crafted a comprehensive master plan for the African safari, covering various aspects such as animal selection, habitat design, and visitor facilities.
An ongoing workshop, spanning from April 22nd to 29th, is currently underway, focusing on fine-tuning the details of the safari experience. This includes deliberations on habitat replication, species integration, and enhancing visitor engagement.
Commenting on the project’s timeline, Bhagwat, a representative of FDCM, stated, “If all goes well, the African safari project will commence post-Diwali.”
The introduction of the African safari at Gorewada marks a significant milestone in wildlife tourism in India. With Harrison’s expertise coupled with the support of the FDCM and the state government, the project is poised to emerge as a premier attraction, offering a symbiotic relationship between wildlife conservation and regional development.
