City’s theatre lovers were in for some heavy scoop of entertaining treat recently at Deshpande Hall, when Ajay Krishnan’s ‘Trivial Disasters’ was staged here. Directed by Atul Kumar, the play opened in Bangalore on July 25 and took a scheduled stop here, enroute their tour to 10 cities until September. The play boasts of known Bollywood faces Kalki Koechlin, Richa Chadda, Purab Kohli and Cyrus Sahukar constituting ensemble cast.
Nagpur Today visited the play and also explored its visual experiences too.(Watch Video).
A play written in English had nine sub parts. All nine play included special element, be it a wife negotiating over ransom, after her husband gets kidnapped, or be it two serial killers, who have apparently been made popular by some TV channel through exclusive interview. Such disasters have been staged in a hilarious manner by the cast.
The actors cum artists said they enjoyed much more on stage than acting for the camera, which is really difficult. Also, they adore this art as it helps them connect better with the audience. Actor-director Atul Kumar having attained commercial success through the play puts up, “Moulding routine life of a person into a comedy script that includes disasters, Ajay has presented a fine piece of art, which I am glad to direct.”
In nine different stories, these four actors have played various different characters, which included many moments of knee-slapping comedy for Nagpurites. Who’s and who of city came with family and friends to enjoy the theatre fine art, and cherished each moment of it.
