Nagpur: Amid the Vedanata-Foxconn row, the State Industry Minister Uday Samant announced that the Tata Airbus project for the production of military aircraft will be coming to Nagpur.
Samant also announced a Rs 3 lakh crore mega refinery project in Ratnagiri district. This development comes after Maharashtra lost the Rs 1.54 lakh crore Vedanta-Foxconn semiconductor manufacturing unit to Gujarat.
As per reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has promised another equally-big project to Maharashtra as well. While addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Samant said, “Modiji has promised us an equally big project saying that he did not want the youth of Maharashtra to lose out on the job /employment opportunities. Modiji keeps his words.”
The Maharashtra Minister also said that they will be meeting the Prime Minister in the next 15 days regarding the matter. The newly-formed Eknath Shinde-Devendra Fadnavis Government has been facing a lot of heat after losing out the Vedanta-Foxconn deal to Gujarat. To tackle what has been done, Samant said the State is also planning to develop the bulk drug park all by themselves.
“We have decided to develop the bulk drug park on our own. We are ready to invest Rs 4,000 to Rs 5,000 crore for setting up the project and in return expecting an investment of Rs 50,000 crore,” Samant said.
