Nagpur: An 18-year old girl committed suicide by hanging herself in her home in Gittikhadan police station area on Sunday. The deceased girl left a note before taking her life, in which she revealed that she was a lesbian, and feared that society would not accept her.
According to police, the girl’s father works in government service, her mother is a housewife, and her younger brother is a student. She was studying in her second year of a BA degree. Reports have revealed that in her note, the girl expressed her fear that society would not accept, and that if she got married, she would not be able to make her husband happy.

On Sunday afternoon, the girl’s father, mother, and brother had gone out for work, leaving her alone in the house. It was then that she took the extreme step of hanging herself from the ceiling fan using a rope. When her family returned home and discovered her hanging, they immediately took her to Mayo Hospital. However, the doctors declared her dead.
The police have registered a case of accidental death and have started an investigation into the matter. Police Sub-Inspector Nitin Vitole of Gittikhadan Police Station said that they had seized the note left behind by the girl and were trying to understand the circumstances that led her to take such a drastic step.
