Nagpur: Manoj Kumar Hanwate, a fake doctor practicing illegally since 2018, has been booked by the Jaripatka police following a complaint by NMC’s zonal medical officer, Ateequr Rehman. Hanwate, who falsely claimed to hold a Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery certificate, had converted his residence in Samta Nagar into a clinic where he treated patients without any valid medical degree. The case was registered after a thorough investigation.
The NMC health department discovered that Hanwate’s certificate was forged and had been procured from Chhattisgarh. Further verification with the Maharashtra Council of Indian Medicine confirmed that he was not registered with the Maharashtra Medical Council. After the complaint was lodged, the police launched a search operation for Hanwate, who managed to escape before authorities could apprehend him. The investigation is ongoing.
