Farmhouse raided, 2 cricket bookies arrested in Nagpur Rural

Nagpur: Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Nagpur Rural Police busted a cricket betting racket operating at a farmhouse near Bhajipani village in Katol Police Station area. The raiding party have arrested two bookies in this connection and seized material worth Rs 1.16 lakh from their possession.

The accused have been identified as Tony Pathan (33), a resident of Teka Naka and Chandu Gangadhar Chandekar (31), a resident of Vaishali Nagar.

Acting on a tip-off, the LCB team raided the farmhouse and found the accused accepting bets on an IPL cricket match being played between Mumbai Indians Vs Chennai Super Kings. The police quickly swung into action and seized a television set, STB, Jio Router, five mobile phones, Laptop and other material from their possession.

Under the guidance of SP Dr Harssh Poddar, Add SP Ramesh Dhumal, the arrest was made by PI (LCB) Omprakash Kokate, API Ashish Thakur, ASI Chandrashekhar Ghadekar and staff including Pramod Tabhne, Sanjay Bante, Dinesh Adhapure, Amol Kuthe, Sumeet Bangde and Vanita Shende.
