Nagpur: A father-son duo died after falling off a bridge when a car rammed their motorcycle. The incident took place on the Patansaongi-Babulkheda road in the limits of Saoner Police Station near Nagpur on Sunday.
Identified as Pramod Shyamrao Choudhary (52) and his son Poorvesh (18), the deceased were the residents of Patansawangi. Pramod Choudhary and his Poorvesh were going towards Panchmukhi Hanuman Mandir at Babulkheda from Patansawangi to attend a wedding ceremony around 8 pm. A car (MH-29/T-9191) coming from Patansaongi direction at a high speed on Kolar bridge hit them. Pramod and Poorvesh were thrown off from the motorcycle and landed in the river after falling off the bridge, leading to the death of Pramod and serious injuries to Poorvesh.
Some passers-by and people from nearby villagers, including social worker Hitesh Bansod, rushed Purvesh to Primary Health Centre at Patansaongi. Purvesh was referred to a Nagpur-based private hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Pramod Choudhary’s body was sent to Saoner Hospital for post-mortem. Saoner Police registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code against the car driver. Sub-Divisional Police Officer Anil Maske visited the spot to supervise the probe. Further investigation is being conducted by API Mangala Mokashe under the supervision of PI Ravindra Mankar.
