A sum of Rs 1,115.22 crore will be spent by the Central Government, Rs 507.36 crore by the State Government and 15 per cent (Rs 304.41 crore) of the project cost by the civic body. About 13,1861 houses will be connected to the sewer network, under the project.

For this, the works of blocking or diverting sewage coming into the river, processing, constructing sewage treatment centre, toilets etc. will be undertaken. This project is important for the Nagpurians as it would add to the beauty of the city. Currently, the river is heavily polluted as the sewage is directly emptied from various residential localities.
