Nagpur: BJP leader Munna Yadav, along with his sons Karan and Arjun, faces fresh charges after being involved in a violent incident, including the assault and verbal abuse of police officers. The recent altercation has sparked outrage across Nagpur, with growing demands for strict action against the notorious Yadav family. Despite the filing of an FIR, serious questions are being raised about how long political gain will protect Munna Yadav, and why the Nagpur Police continues to allow such unchecked lawlessness.
Political Protection of Munna Yadav: When Will It End?
Munna Yadav, a long-standing figure with a criminal background, and his brother Bala Yadav have engaged in multiple violent disputes over the years, often involving severe charges, including attempted murder. Their ongoing feud erupted again on Saturday evening when Munna’s sons, Karan and Arjun, allegedly assaulted the son of Munna’s brother, Jaggu Yadav. This brawl, witnessed by locals, led to injuries and significant property damage.
Bala Yadav and his son later arrived at the scene, where they were also attacked by Munna’s sons and their associates. Vehicles were damaged, and Bala’s nephew Ram was injured with a knife. The incident escalated as both groups arrived at the Dhantoli police station, where Munna’s sons publicly abused and threatened Bala’s supporters. Despite Constable Subhash Vasade’s attempts to calm the situation, the Yadav brothers continued to hurl insults, even accusing the constable of bribery.
Munna Yadav’s defiance reached a peak when he arrived at the station and joined his sons in threatening police officers. He openly challenged Constable Vasade, saying, “Don’t you recognize me? I’ll deal with you.” The police, overwhelmed by this public display of aggression, eventually registered an FIR under Sections 132, 351, 351(3), and 3(5) of the BNS Act.
Why No Action Against Goons Like Munna Yadav?
Despite the FIR, many are questioning why swift and decisive action hasn’t been taken. How much longer will Nagpur Police allow goons like Munna Yadav to overpower them in full public view, disobey senior officers, and challenge law enforcement? Why haven’t Munna Yadav and his brother Bala faced stricter measures such as being moved outside city limits or even being declared “Tadipaar” (exiled) to restore law and order?
Silent Opposition Raises Eyebrows
Interestingly, the silence of local opposition politicians from the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has also raised eyebrows. This is the second case in recent days where local opposition leaders have remained mute spectators. In the Audi car clash case, no local politician raised any questions, forcing a leader from Pune to visit Nagpur when local office bearers stayed quiet. If sources are to be believed, some opposition leaders even visited the police station to protect the accused. In the Munna Yadav case, a sitting MLC from Nagpur was allegedly caught on a viral video at the police station, further fueling suspicions of political shielding.
High Time for Nagpur Police and Politicians to Act
The Yadav family’s history of criminal activity and Munna Yadav’s repeated defiance of police authority—even in front of senior officers—has led to significant unrest in Nagpur. While a local MLA tried to intervene and defuse the situation, the public nature of the threats and abuse left the police with no choice but to take formal action.
With elections approaching, this incident could damage the ruling party’s image, prompting the question: When will politicians stop shielding figures like Munna Yadav for political gain? Why are notorious figures allowed to continue operating with impunity, and when will the Nagpur Police assert its authority and act decisively to curb this growing lawlessness?
The lack of response from both ruling and opposition parties further adds to public frustration. The people of Nagpur are left questioning when the political and law enforcement apparatus will finally act to restore law and order, and stop protecting those who repeatedly flout it.
