Nagpur: A case has been filed against a user for posting offensive content about the state’s Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter). The case was registered following a complaint by a lawyer.

The offending account has been attempting to spread false narratives by morphing photos of Fadnavis and BJP leaders. Operating under the name ‘Gajabhau’, the account posted altered images depicting Fadnavis in various controversial contexts, including as a Mughal and a tantrik. These posts included derogatory remarks related to the Maratha reservation issue.

Mohite stated that the posts were highly inappropriate and aimed at spreading misinformation in society. By posting misleading content on religious and social issues, the account holder attempted to disrupt the peace and order of the state. The complaint highlighted that this activity had been ongoing for several days.

Upon investigation, the Sitabardi Police registered a case against the account holder under sections 352, 353(1)(c), 336(4), and 358(2)(c) of the Indian Penal Code.

The user also posted morphed images of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, replacing the face of a film actor with that of the Prime Minister. Surprisingly, even after the case was filed, the account remained active as of late Friday, with none of the offending posts deleted.
