Firecrackers boom as Nagpur celebrates ‘Maha Diwali’ to mark Pran Pratishtha of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya

Nagpur: The residents in Second Capital of Maharashtra — in a jubilant display of devotion and festivity, celebrated the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya with great enthusiasm on Monday evening. The festivities mirrored the spirit of Diwali, as diyas illuminated homes and firecrackers boomed in a big way.

The fervour and enthusiasm of the people were palpable, as families and communities came together to participate in the festivities. Many expressed their joy by referring to the event as ‘Maha Diwali,’ emphasizing the significance of the momentous occasion. Comparing it to the return of Lord Ram from ‘vanvaas’ after 14 years, residents highlighted the historical and cultural importance of this celebration, which marked the return of Shri Ram Lalla after a span of 500 years.

Devotees thronged temples across the city, where the spiritual ambiance was enhanced by the radiant glow of diyas adorning the temple premises. Buildings, apartments, and homes in Nagpur were transformed into vibrant displays of light, with people joining in the celebration by bursting firecrackers to mark the auspicious occasion.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a post on social media platform X, had earlier urged citizens to light the symbolic ‘Ram Jyoti’ on the occasion of the Pran Pratishtha ceremony and extend a warm welcome to Shri Ram Lalla. Thousands of citizens, along with their families, responded to the call, illuminating their surroundings with the glow of ‘Ram Jyoti’ diyas in a collective act of celebration.

Faces across Nagpur gleamed with happiness as citizens, young and old alike, came together to celebrate the Pran Pratishtha ceremony, creating a memorable spectacle that reflected the unity and reverence of the community towards this significant milestone in the cultural and religious history of the nation.
