Five-year-old girl killed in road mishap; father, brother seriously injured

Nagpur: In a tragic incident at Chokhala turning in the Aroli police station area, a speeding truck collided with a motorcycle, resulting in the death of a five-year-old girl, Ananya Shende. The girl’s father, Pramod Shende (33), who was riding the two-wheeler, and her younger brother, Tejas Shende (3), sustained serious injuries.

The unfortunate accident occurred on Sunday at 12:30 pm when Pramod was navigating the Chokhala turning with his wife Sheetal Shende (26) and their two children, Ananya and Tejas, riding pillion. A speeding truck bearing the registration MH40/CD-6679 approached from the opposite direction, colliding with the two-wheeler.

The impact of the collision resulted in grievous injuries to Ananya, Pramod, and Tejas. They were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Sadly, Ananya succumbed to her injuries during the course of treatment.

Aroli police have taken prompt action and arrested the truck driver, identified as Sandip Bandu Meshram (35), a resident of Khedi village in Parseoni tehsil. The driver has been charged under Sections 279, 337, 338, and 304 (a) of the Indian Penal Code, along with Sections 184 and 179 of the Motor Vehicle Act. The authorities are conducting further investigations into the incident.
