Nagpur News: The much-awaited results of Common Aptitude Test (CAT) were declared on Tuesday. Dr Gauri Joshi, a practicing dentist, emerged as the city topper this year with 99. 94 percentile.
The second topper from the city is Anubhav Mittal, a government employee, with 99. 72 percentile while the third city topper is Saurabh Dichwalkar, a final year student of VNIT, with a percentile of 99.61
Nagpur Today caught up with Dr. Gauri Joshi today, here is the what she has to say about her success and how she achieved it:
Nagpur Today :: Was it your first attempt?
Dr Joshi :: No, I had attempted CAT last year but without preparation. That attempt however made me realize that with proper preparation I can get a good percentile::
Nagpur Today :: You are a practicing Dentist? Why did you switch to management?
Dr Joshi :: I did practice sometime back but since May last year I have mostly focused on CAT preparation::
Nagpur Today:: were you always a bright student?
Dr Joshi :: Yes I have been reasonably good at academics from the start::
Nagpur Today :: What was your study plan? When did you start preparing for CAT?
Dr Josh :: I usually studied for 4-5 hours a day and appeared for a good number of Mock CATs. I started preparation from May 2013.
Nagpur Today :: Did you join any coaching classes. Did it help ?
Dr Joshi :: I had Joined TIME classes in Nagpur. They were immensely helpful.
Nagpur Today :: Any tips for future CAT aspirants ?
Dr Joshi :: I think it very important to initially focus on basics and then build on it. Also one should not be discouraged with bad scores in Mock tests.
Nagpur Today :: Which management institute do you plan to apply for ?
Dr Joshi :: I have applied for all the IIMs, SP Jain, NMIMS, MDI and FMS
Nagpur Today :: In management any specialization ,you looking forward to ?
Dr Joshi :: I would like to do MBA in General Management at one of the IIMs or Marketing from any of the other institutes.
