Four booked for culpable homicide not amounting to murder

Nandanan police booked four persons for culpable homicide not amounting to murder of a 52-year-old woman.

The offence was registered on Tuesday after the victim Fatima Sheikh died attempting to resolve a fight between two groups. According to information, victim’s son Sheikh Noor Sheikh Rahman and wife Mumtaz Sheikh got divorced four years ago. A few ago, Sheikh Noor met his son Chand Sheikh and bought him a pair of slippers. Thus, the accused Mumtaz Sheikh, her mother, Sonu and Naresh met him and asked him to bear the expenses of Chand. They started using foul language and soon the verbal quarrel took an ugly turn when the accused started fighting.

Sheikh Noor’s mother Fatima Sheikh (52) intervened but fell and sustained serious injuries resulting into her death.

On the basis of the complaint of Sheikh Noor, Nandanvan police booked the four accused under Sections 304, 323, 504, 506 (b) and 34 of the IPC. Further investigations are under way.
