Nagpur: In a tragic incident, four members of a family, including a couple and their two sons, were found dead at their home in Mowad village of Narkhed taluka, Nagpur district, on Wednesday morning. The police have initiated a probe, suspecting the case to be a mass suicide, as reported by local media.

The deceased were identified as Vijay Madhukar Pachori (68), a retired teacher, his wife Mala (55), and their two sons Ganesh (38) and Deepak (36). According to an official from the Nagpur Rural Police, a suicide note recovered from the house indicated that the family was under severe stress following Ganesh’s arrest earlier this year in a fraud case registered at Pandhurna Police Station, Madhya Pradesh.

The purported suicide note, signed by all four family members, suggested that Ganesh’s legal troubles had caused immense mental anguish for the entire family. Some neighbours, noticing unusual silence at the residence, alerted the authorities. When the police arrived and broke open the door, they found the bodies hanging from ceiling hooks, confirming the worst.

The investigation revealed that the family had been facing financial and social pressure. Vijay Pachori had started a society in which several locals had invested money. However, the society eventually collapsed, leaving many investors without their funds. Several complaints were lodged with the police, and as a result, Ganesh was arrested earlier this year. He had recently been released from jail.

Reports suggest that the family had been under significant emotional strain in the days leading up to the incident, with frequent arguments between Vijay and his wife Mala. It is believed that the pressure from creditors, the family’s declining reputation, and the recent court order for the seizure of property further worsened their situation. Vijay had allegedly used society funds for his business ventures, leading to mounting debts.

Neighbours mentioned that creditors had been visiting their house regularly, demanding repayment. The continuous harassment and fear of public humiliation likely contributed to the family’s decision to end their lives.

The Narkhed police have registered a case of accidental death and are continuing their investigation into the matter, gathering further details about the circumstances surrounding this heart-wrenching incident.
