Nagpur: Sitabuldi Police in Nagpur booked four shopkeepers at Rahul Market for selling duplicate electronic gadgets of Apple Inc and Technology Company. Cops raided their shops and seized duplicate AirPods, adaptors, earpods, back glasses, mobile back covers, USB cables and iPad covers collectively worth over Rs 79.42 lakh.
The accused have been identified as Vijay Sheetaldas Makhijani (43), a resident of House No 05, ‘Sai Sharan,’ Jaripatka; Narayan Gowardhandas Mohnani (68), a resident of Plot No 103, Saraswati Nagar, near Wanjari Nagar; Ramaram Kesaram Choudhary (30), a resident of Shakuntala Apartment, Dhantoli and Jeparam Devaram Choudhary (28), a resident of Flat No 403, Hariom Apartment, Tekdi Road, Sitabuldi.
After receiving information from Kundan Gulabrao Beloshe, a representative of an anti-piracy firm from Kalyan, district Thane, that some shopkeepers at Rahul Market were selling duplicate electronic products of Apple Company, cops raided the shops. They seized 143 adaptors, 383 USB cables, 73 AirPods, 1458 mobile back covers, 18 earpods and 70 back glasses collectively worth Rs 79.42 lakh from their shops.
Police registered a case under Sections 51 and 63 of the Copyright Act against the accused persons.
The raids were conducted by Senior PI Asaram Chormale, API Sontakke, API Santosh Kadam, constabulary staff comprising Chandrashekhar, Sandeep, Mahesh, Jayanta, Nandu, Aba Munde, Prashant Akeeb, Vandana and Sunita under the supervision of DCP (Zone II) Rahul Madne and ACP (Sitabuldi Division) Sudhir Nandanwar.
