Fraudulent Scheme Costs Man Rs 4.70 Lakh Under False Promise of Daughter’s BAMS Admission

Nagpur: Nandanvan Police have launched a search for a conman named Saurabh Santosh Khobragade who allegedly duped a middle-aged man to the tune of Rs 4.70 lakh by promising admission to his daughter in Bhausaheb Mulak Ayurved College. The victim, Sunil Vithoba Mundle (46), a resident of Plot No 62, Dwarka Society, Darshan Colony, met Khobragade (35), a resident of Nandanvan Cement Road, near the post office, met Khobragade in May last year.

During their general conversation, Mundle told him that he wants his daughter to get admitted in Bhausaheb Mulak Ayurved College. Khobragade then told him that he had good contacts with college authorities and would help him in his daughter’s admission.

When Mundle asked him about the fees and other expenses, he told him that he would have to pay Rs 4.70 lakh in cash along with the original certificates of his daughter’s educational qualification. After gaining his confidence, Khobragade took the cash, his daughter’s marksheet and certificates near Santoshi Pharmacy, KDK College Road, Nandanvan between May 27, 2023 and January 29, 2024.

As his daughter did not get admission, he asked Khobragade to return the money and testimonials but he did not. Realising that he was conned by Khobragade, Mundle approached the police. On the complaint of Mundle, Nandanvan Police registered a case under Section 406 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code against Khobragade.
