Nagpur: With an aim to position Nagpur among the top 5 cities of India, BJP candidate from Nagpur Lok Sabha constituency Nitin Gadkari has promised a series of development projects across various sectors, in his poll manifesto, named as ‘vachan-nama te vachanpurti’ launched here on Tuesday. Right from providing authorised residency under scheme for Bangladesh area in Nagpur to streamlining water supply, road and rail networks and sprucing up the education and tourism infrastructure of the region to bring all communities under the fast paced progress, and creating jobs, Gadkari left no point untouched in putting up a bold manifesto.
The vachan-nama has been reportedly prepared by a 28-member committee headed by senior BJP leaders Girish Vyas and Jai Prakash Gupta. The suggestions were invited from various strata of society in Nagpur to make it an all-inclusive poll manifesto.
Addressing a press conference attended by all the senior BJP leaders and committee members, Gadkari touched upon the issue of unauthorised layouts stating that if voted to power those living in such colonies will be provided ownership under scheme of Bangladesh. The concerned beneficiary under this scheme will hold the ownership right on the property which can be mortgaged to the bank as well.
Country’s biggest logistics park
Gadkari said that with support from Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis they have got Rs 1200 crore approved for what he dubbed as the country’s biggest logistics in Sindi area which will serve as an import and export cluster.
Gadkari ki Guarantee – No water problem in Nagpur till 2070
Gadkari said that water from Totladoh dam reaches Pench from where it is supplied to Nagpur. He said that a well-equipped water supply system is being put into place which will enable 20-24 hours water supply daily to 60 to 70 percent areas in Nagpur. This will ensure that Nagpur will have no water problem till 2070.
Metro broad gauge, International airport
While doling out the series of sops, Gadkari also took up the issue of metro broad gauge and international airport, which were caught in legal hurdles. He assured that due to the increased rail traffic congestion the metro broad gauge project struggled to move forward. However, he said that soon the 4-lane rail line will be created and this will facilitate the broad gauge metro rail from Nagpur to Wardha, Gondia, Itarsi, Betul, Katol, Ramtek, Amravati and other connecting areas. With Itwari and Godhni station being developed the metro broad gauge project will soon become a reality, he assured. He also said that airport expansion has been stuck for the last 3 years due to the stay order by the Supreme Court.
Electric buses on entire 49 km outer ring road
He said that the electric cable will be laid on the entire 49 km stretch of outer ring road to facilitate electric bus services which will also connect with metro stations.
15 lakh sq ft textile market at Empress Mill
Gadkari proposed that an ambitious textile market will be created in a 15 lakh sq ft area opposite Empress Mall, which will have 3 floors for shops and 3 floors for textile factories. This will benefit the East Nagpur area particularly Mominpura and Gandhi Bagh and generate about 10000 job opportunities.
Food Mall opposite Radisson
Gadkari consciously brought up the topic of benefitting farmers through a food mall proposed at the public utility space opposite Radisson hotel. Through this venture, farmers can bring organically grown fruits and vegetables directly to the market and sell, which will also improve quality and prices, he assured, adding that he looked forward to creation of 50 such markets including wholesale kirana market and wood (lakda) markets catering to different segments. In order to facilitate transport he also announced a 4-lane road from Mayo Hospital to Lakadganj.
Police quarters with full amenities
Besides, he also promised a dedicated police quarters with parking for 300-350 cars and 500-700 two-wheelers, with all the lifestyle amenities including health club and swimming pool.
