Nagpur: Thane crime branch is on the raiding spree not only in city but all over Maharashta. The sleuths have been targetting the errant petrol pumps delivering manipulated fuel quantity to the consumers. In its latest raid, the cops have cracked down on yet another petrol pump for using tampered chip at its dispensing machine in order to provide less quantity of fuel.
The petrol pump named SS Petroleum located in Friends Colony is owned by RS Wankhede. These pumps are reportedly using tampered chips in their dispensing machines to fluctuate the fuel quantity being provided to the consumers. After it exposed similar malpractice at a petrol pump owned by BJP leader Navneet Singh Tuli, Thane police went on to raid as many as 65 petrol pumps across state, for fuel theft using these tampered chips.
In its statewide crack down, Thane police has been conducting surprise checks on the petrol pumps. Interestingly, most of the petrol pumps being raided were found to be using faulty means to cheat on the consumers. Sources suspect that when such chips can be tampered then there may be wide possibility that many petrol pumps may be using this.
