Barring the upset loss of Akash PC Iyer to lesser rated Eshan Lawaniya on the 15th table , all the other seeds had it ease.A terrific blunder from Akash on the 21st move cost him dearly who had to give a piece to save his queen. Akash, a member of the Bronze Medal winning team, recently at Turkey in World U16 chp, overlooked a simple Knight move threatening to trap his queen had to concede a knight with no compensation and resigned three moves later.
Top seed FM Diptayan Ghosh of West Bengal powered his way in the center files with pawns against T Dhiren of AP, from the black side of London system in 34 moves. 2nd Seeded FM Shardul Gagare of Maharashtra took his time before outplaying Ishaan Bansal of Punjab. Shardul won a piece on the 31stmove when his clock was ticking down heavily and his opponent enjoying some advantage with heavy pieces.
