Nagpur: The Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, probably for the first time, has asked MahaMetro that it should take over the city bus service from NMC and use it as a feeder service of Metro Rail. The civic body had asked MahaMetro to take over the loss-making city bus service since the former suggested reforms in bus routes, according to media reports.
According to reports, Gadkari said efforts are on to introduce a new technology-based public transport system from Pardi to Jaiprakash Nagar Metro Rail Station to Wadi using the London/Orange Street project.
Underpass from Amravati Road to Telangkhedi Lake at LIT Gate:
The Union Minister Gadkari said an underpass will be constructed from Amravati Road to Telangkhedi Lake at LIT Gate. He also announced widening of road connecting University Campus Square and the lake, a third flyover on Amravati Road to bypass Dawlamethi, water sports at Wadgaon Dam and a ‘Disneyland’ in Wardha district.
Gadkari and Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis performed the bhoomi puja of the two flyovers proposed on Amravati road — Bhole Petrol Pump to University Campus Square and Gurudwara to Wadi Police Station recently.
The Minister further said that he will also have to plan either an underpass or flyover at the T-Point where Inner Ring Road connects with Amravati Road at Wadi if traffic congestion does not ease out with the new flyover. Also, people will be able to use the new public transport system in which a 50-seater bus will fly. This project will be from Pardi to Jaiprakash Nagar Metro Station to Hingna MIDC to Wadi to Variety Square, said Gadkari.
Gadkari further said that adventure sports has been added to the Telangkhedi Lake redevelopment plan. People can travel across the lake on a zip line. Also, the parking plaza at the lake will now be 12-floor high with a four-screen multiplex on one floor, he said.
On Amravati Road, Gadkari said the firm engaged by NHAI was not maintaining the highway properly and had not planted trees too. The officials are in nexus with the firm. Its tenure ends in 2026 and the entire highway will be planned in a systematic manner.
Beautification of Police Talao:
The Union Minister named the Police Talao after Sant Gadgebaba in a function hel;d recently. The tank is situated near Fire Safety College in the city.
Gadkari suggested that with the beautification of the tank, a statue of Sant Gadgebaba could be erected in the middle of the Talao and a placard containing the Sant’s 10-point programme for welfare of the society should be flanked at the spot to inspire the young generation.
Mayor Dayashankar Tiwari, Sandeep Jadhav, Nitish Gwalvanshi, Sanjay Bhilkar, Gargi Chopra, Sakshi Raut, Rashmi Dhurve, Rajan Barai and others were present on the occasion.
