Nagpur: “Serving deprived sections of society, disabled (Divyang) persons is like serving the God. Serving them for a lifetime is blessing of God,” said Nitin Gadkari, Union Surface Transport Minister, in a programme organized by Pt Deendayal Upadhyay Institute of Medical Sciences and Human Resources, Nagpur to distribute artificial limbs to handicapped persons and Stenography machines to the blind here on Saturday.
The programme was held at Shikshak Sahakari Bank Hall near Gandhisagar, Mahal. Other dignitaries present on the occasion include Union Chemical and Fertilizers Minister Hansraj Ahir, Mayor Pravin Datke, Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule and others.
“We all should strive for making the disabled persons self-sufficient, self-employed for their all-round development. We should leave no stone unturned to fulfill the ‘Antyodaya’ dream of Pt Deendayal Upadhyay. Pt Deendayal Upadhyay Institute of Medical Sciences and Human Resources, since the past 4 years, has organized 845 health camps across the country. Through these camps, 4.81 lakh persons were checked, 61000 needy people were distributed with spects, 22000 surgeries were performed. The work is still going on successfully. As part of this mission, today the disabled persons were distributed artificial limbs created by England’s Endolite Company and Stenography machines were provided to the blind.
The smile on the faces of beneficiaries is to be seen to be believed. In my constituency, no disabled person will be left rehabilitated,” declared Gadkari.
Western Coalfield Ltd Chairman Rajiv Garg, who was present in the function, presented a cheque of Rs 10 lakh as an additional fund as a social responsibility of the company.
Others present on the occasion include MLA Sudhakar Kohale, Standing Committee Chairman Sudhir Raut, MLC Anil Sole, Director of Pt Deendayal Upadhyay Institute of Medical Sciences and Human Resources, Nagpur, Dr Viral Kamdar, large number of students from handicapped schools, teachers and citizens.
