A new addition to the long list of problems in the drinking water supplied by the Corporator from Gandhisagar ward Harshala Sable met the Nagpur Municipal Corporation(NMC) commissioner Shyam Wardhane on Saturday to brief him about the water problems encountered by the citizens in her ward. She displayed a bottle full with yellowish coloured water with live insects floating in it.
Sable, her husband and ex-corporator Manoj Sable along with opposition members expressed anger over poor quality of water being supplied to the citizens and thus welcoming a number of serious health related problems for the Citizens. Sable humbly requested Wardhane to visit Gandhisagar ward to understand in detail the seriousness and gravity of their problem.
“Slum-dwellers have been issued water bills ranging upto Rs 40,000. If bills are not paid NMC staffers are threatening the people by saying that they could face disconnection of water supply. The same is the case with private agency that has engaged to collect garbage. NMC should scrap the contracts with all these private operators,” leader of opposition Vikas Thakre demanded as they aren
