Nagpur: Amid sounds of cymbals, drums and a lavish sprinkling gulal and ‘no restrictions’ first time in last two years; people across the Second Capital of the State welcomed Vighnaharta on Wednesday to mark 10-days-long Ganeshotsav. The bad roads riddled with potholes, which put on many intercept in front of devotees, failed to dissolve their zest while bringing Ganesh idols. Despite many inconvenience, all forgot the hassles when they brought idols to pandals and home.
The roads, which are already congested due to infrastructure works and potholes, did enough to dissuade zeal of devotees but with Vighnaharta itself on their side, the sloppy roads failed to do so.
“Here the traffic situation is so bad this year. We are taking the idol straight from Chitar Oli to Darodkar Square. Due to congested surrounding we failed to organize dhol-tasha from the moment we carry Bappa. However after reaching Darodkar Square, we will take out a procession with dhol-tasha for a short distance till our pandal,” said a devotee from Shree Ganesh Mandar Mahal while talking to Nagpur Today.
“Due to shorten route, we made arrangements to ensure that traffic is not hampered. We have sought special permission from the traffic officials to take out a procession from Chitar Oil to Itwari,” informed a member of Shri Santi Ganesh Mandal Itwari.
“Earlier it used to be less of the struggle. However, with undeveloped roads and potholes, it was a much of a struggle to carry bappa home. Despite many inconvenience, all the hassle seems relieved once bappa enters home,” told Tejashwi Nayak, a resident of Trimurti Nagar.
