Ganeshpeth cops nab man accepting bets on India-WI Semifinal of T20 World Cup

Nagpur: Ganeshpeth police raided a house near Kumbhalkar College and arrested a 30-year old man red-handed while indulging in betting over India-West Indies Semifinal match of T20 World Cup being played on Thursday.

The accused has been identified as Amit Prabhakar Totewar (30), resident of near Kumbhalkar College, beside Old Masjid in Ganeshpeth area.

The raid was carried out after the patrolling Ganeshpeth cops received a tip-off that the accused Amit was accepting bets over the outcome of the match between India-West Indies being played in Mumbai on Thursday.

The raiding cops caught Amit Totewar red-handed in the act and seized a cash of Rs 14,400, three mobile phone handsets worth Rs 12,000, set top box of Rs 1000, one LED TV worth Rs 20,000 and other material collectively valued at Rs 48,810 from his possession.

The arrested accused Amit was booked under Sections 4, 5 of Maharashtra Gambling Act. The raid was initiated by Senior PI S R Khatale and his team comprising API A P Taksande, nayak police constables Anand Wankhede, Ajay Giradkar, and Sharad Chambhare.
