Nagpur: The Pachpaoli police have successfully apprehended two members of a notorious house burglary and vehicle theft gang, along with the detention of two minors.
The arrested accused have been identified as Amar alias Prince Vinod Dongre (19) from Ambedkar Colony, Jaripatka, and Rudresh alias Rudra Yuvraj Sakhre (19) from Indora. The arrest follows a recent burglary incident on June 9, where the thieves broke into the residence of Sunil Taksande (50) in Pachpaoli and made off with jewellery and valuables worth Rs 3 lakh. The police registered a case of burglary and launched an investigation.
The joint efforts of DCP Zone III Gorakh Bhamre, ACB Sachin Thorbole, Senior PI Vaibhav Jadhav, and other officers led to a breakthrough. During the investigation, it was discovered that the culprits had used the stolen valuables to purchase expensive mobile phones and had even taken trips to Mumbai and Nashik. Furthermore, the police have linked the gang to three additional house burglaries and two cases of vehicle theft in rural areas. As a result, the authorities have seized gold and silver ornaments worth an estimated Rs 5.5 lakh.
The arrested accused are now in police custody, while the detained minors will be dealt with in accordance with juvenile justice procedures.
According to another report in local English daily, the group of four youngsters from a catering group, including two minors, had started committing burglaries to make trendy reels and post them on Instagram. After completing their catering work late at night and consuming liquor with the money gained from tips, the group started visiting different places on stolen bikes to find easy targets for burglaries in the wee hours.
To make the videos in the reels attractive, the youngsters got tattoos made on their bodies, chose various locations for shooting and ensured trendy looks with branded attires apart from feasting and smoking. To raise funds for shooting the reels, they started stealing bikes and breaking into homes for valuables and cash.
Following a tip-off regarding the four youngsters splurging on various extravagant hobbies, including consumption of liquor, branded clothes and tattoos, the Pachpaoli police team comprising Senior Inspector Vaibhav Jadhav and Inspector Mahendra Ambhore rounded up Amar alias Prince Dongre (19), Rudresh alias Rudra Sakhre (19) and two minors.
