Nagpur: Kalamna Police in Nagpur arrested seven members of a gang of robbers who had looted over Rs 2.75 lakh from Santosh Kartik Sahu, a vegetable wholesaler, and taken away his Honda Activa scooter ( MH-49/V-1612) six days ago. Cops recovered Rs 1.06 lakh cash and seized two motorcycles used by them for committing the crime.
The accused have been identified as Jairaj alias Sonu Mohan Verma (39), Nilesh alias Dadu Gangadhar Verma (24), Dinanath Gajanan Paunikar (42), all residents of Vijay Nagar, Kalamna, Raja alias Bhuru Riyaz Khan (24), a resident of Untkhana, Kamptee, Anandkumar Daduram Verma (19), a resident of Dipti Signal, Rupendra alias Golu Mangalram Sarwa alias Sahu (31), a resident of Laxmi Nagar, and Kalim Salim Khan (24), a resident of Khalasi Line, Kamptee. Eighth accused Naved, a resident of Yashodhara Nagar, is at large.
Around 6.50 pm on October 1, Santosh Kartik Sahu (45) was returning home on his Honda Activa from Kalamna Market. He was carrying Rs 2.75 lakh cash with him. The accused came on separate motorcycles and hit Santosh Sahu. After he fell down, the robbers took away the cash from Sahu and also his scooter.
Acting on a tip off, Kalamna Police led by Senior PI Prashant Pande and PSI Santosh Kumar Ramlod nabbed the seven accused and took them into custody. Investigation revealed that accused Jairaj alias Sonu Verma was the mastermind.
