Nagpur:The two-day ‘Gastrocon-2015’ conference got underway from Saturday on the theme disorders of stomach, intestine and liver. The conference is organised by Midas Medical Foundation and Research Institute,Nagpur at the Hotel Centre Point, Ramdaspeth.
On the first day the conference saw delegates from all over Vidarbha and Madhya pradesh participating in various technical sessions.
Eminent international faculty like Dr Jung Dilawari and Dr Kulwinder Dua addressed the gathering and participated on panel discussions. The first day was a academic feast comprising of interactive sessions, panel discussions and case based discussions on various topics in the field.
Nearly 950 doctors consisting of practicing physicians and general surgeon have registered for the conference. The conference was held in two sessions. The morning technical session saw presentation by various doctors on renal failure in liver disease, carcinoma gall bladder, state of art lecture-neoesophagus, approach to asymptomatic liver enzyme elevation, recent papers in hepatology and Achiasia (debate). This followed by panel discussion.
Post lunch witnessed presentation on diagnostic laparoscopy, state of art Endoscopy lecture (learning from three decades), non-invasive assessment of liver fibrosis, NAFLD-Indian scenario, GI Bleed, hilar block- management perspective (Symposium), Recent papers in gastroenterology, inflammatory bowel disease. These presentations were given by prominent doctors from the country. Convenor of the conference Dr Shrikant Mukewar gave the welcome address.
Two public lectures were also held on the topics “obesity and liver” and “alcohol and liver”.
