Nagpur: On Friday, authorities seized gold worth ₹50,75,000 from a passenger at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport.
The operation was carried out by the Nagpur Customs’ Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) and Air Customs Unit (ACU).
Additionally, ₹77 lakhs worth of mobile phones, smartwatches, and safes were also confiscated from the individual.
The passenger, Mohammad Mogar Abbas, had arrived in Nagpur from Sharjah on Air Arabia’s flight G9-415.
Authorities received a tip-off about this major smuggling attempt. During the inspection upon the passenger’s arrival at Nagpur Airport, gold concealed inside the inner parts of his pants was found sprayed with paint to evade detection.
