Nagpur News : All India Police Sports Control Board’s Rustam Sarang led the list of gold medalists on the second day of the National Weightlifting Championships here on Sunday. Being contested at the Nagpur Division Sports Complex, other winners on day two included Omkar Otari (Railway Sports Promotion Board) and Priti (Haryana). After a silver for Ganesh Mali on the opening day, the next proved to be void of medals for the Maharasthra team.
In the 62 kg category, Rustam Sarang weighed 115 kg in the snatch category and 146 kg in the clean and jerk category to amass a 261 kg total, sufficient to edge Swapnil Ghagre (Services) for a top finish. Swapnil’s total of 260 kg and 257 kg for Sushant Sahu (Odisha) filled up the other two positions on the podium.
In the 69 kg category, Omkar’s gold-winning show saw him totalling 296 kg. Vikas Kumar (Services) and Papul Changmai (Assam) grabbed silver and bronze medals respectively.
