Gondia: Tension ran high in Gondia after some unidentified persons shot at former Deputy Civic Chief of Gondia and sitting Councillor Kallu alias Lokesh Yadav. The bullet hit Yadav in the lower back. He has been shifted to Nagpur. His condition is said to be stable.
As per details around 11.15 am on Thursday, Yadav was standing near his public relations office near Hemu Kalani Chowk in Sindhi Colony. Two unidentified bike-borne accused came to the spot and suddenly opened fire at Yadav. Soon after this the accused sped away from the spot.
Yadav’s subordinates immediately rushed him to KTS District General Hospital from where doctors referred him to Nagpur. On getting information, Gondia City Police team led by PI Chandrakant Suryawanshi reached the spot. Superintendent of Police Nikhil Pingale, SDPO Pramod Madame and other police officials also visited the spot.
SP Pingale said that cops were investigating all angles and expressed confidence the culprits would be nabbed soon. It may be mentioned here that Yadav is a sitting member of Gondia Municipal Council and former Deputy Civic Chief. He and his brother Pankaj Yadav are associated with Shiv Sena (UBT).
Police have registered an offence against the unidentified accused under relevant sections of law and launched a search for them.
