This project aims to improve train punctuality and speed, benefiting passengers by making travel more efficient and enjoyable.

The South East Central Railway’s Nagpur division is making significant efforts to expedite infrastructure development. Estimated Cost of the Project: ₹3,425 Crore

The construction of the third line between Durg and Kalamna, estimated at ₹3,425 crore, is progressing swiftly. Out of the total 228 kilometers between Rajnandgaon and Nagpur, 180 kilometers are complete. Except for the 10 kilometers between Darekasa and Salekasa, the remaining sections (Salekasa-Dhanoli, Gudma-Gangajhari, and Kampthi-Kalamna) have received approvals from the Forest and Wildlife Department and are targeted for completion in the financial year 2024-25. The Darekasa-Salekasa section is expected to be completed by 2025-26.

During this period, efforts are being made to minimize disruptions to safety and train operations while completing the work at a rapid pace. Additionally, the doubling of the 3-kilometer Kalumna-Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose (Itwari) rail line is also set to be completed within this financial year. The Durg-Kalamna section is currently equipped with a fully automatic signal system.

The completion of the Durg-Rajnandgaon-Kalamna third rail line and other infrastructure development projects will not only enhance train operations but also contribute to the country’s progress. These initiatives are expected to boost regional development, economic and industrial growth, and create new employment opportunities.
