NAGPUR : 25th February is celebrated as NATIONAL ORAL PATHOLOGISTS DAY. This year,DEPARTMENT OF ORAL PATHOLOGY & MICROBIOLOGY, GDC&H Nagpur, Dr.Amit Parate Head Of Department of oral pathology & microbiology along with Dr.Akshay Dhobley, Dr.Devendra Palve , Dr.Dipak Ghatage &Dr. Mansi Wadekar.
The program was formally inaugurated by Hon’ble Dean GDCH Dr.Abhay Dattarkar.
1.Oral cancer & precancer screening program for under privilege people of society at Rajabaksha temple premises. In this event around 200 patient were screened out of which 23 were diagnosed as precancer & referred to GDC&H for further management. Post graduate students screened the patients under supervision of staff.
2.Patient awareness program regarding oral precancer & cancer for general public in GDC premises was conducted in which Dr.Akshay Dhobley elaborated on various aspects of prevention of oral precancer- cancer & applead that patient should stay away from bad habits.
3.Patient Felicitation Shri Narayan Das Tharwani ,A patient who has been regularly visiting Dept. of Oral Pathology ,who was felicitated by the Dean Sir for & he was projected as an example for others to follow
He had oral precancer and due to counseling & treatment from department staff he is free from disease now.
4. Sensitization of Nursing college students to tobacco related diseases was conducted. The second semester nursing students were trained in examining the oral cavity & its various parts. Dr.Devendra Palve , Dr.Dipak Ghatage gave demonstrations in identifying pathologies in oral cavity. Dr.Mansi Wadekar explained about the specialized counseling techniques to stop bad habits.
Post graduate students Dr.Akhil, Dr.Ashwini , Dr.Divya explained the various common oral habits which the patient might suffer . Along with Dr.Phalguni, Dr.Pradhnya & Dr.Sunil who motivated the students to religiously practice good oral hygiene.
The principal Nursing college Dr.Jyoti Ghaywat, vice principal Varsha Shrikhande & student incharge Vijay Rokde were significantly present during the day long activity.
Innovative Activities for students were planned in which vice Dean Dr.Manjusha Warhadpande introduced the theme of “ORAL HEALTH OVERALL HEALTH” for rangoli contest, in which large number of students participated to convey the message to the society. Photography contest was held for students, interns, post graduate students and staff in which theme was “Tobacco & Oral Health”.
Non teaching staff of the ORAL PATHOLOGY & MICROBIOLOGY, GDC&H Nagpur Shri Girish Joshi , Shri Yuvraj Ramteke & Dhanraj Surpam made the arrangements for the program.
Post graduate students worked hard for the success of this event.
