Nagpur: Group Captain Shiv Kumar took over the Command of Air Force Station Sonegaon, Nagpur, on August 27. A handing over/taking over ceremony was held at Air Force Station Sonegaon on Tuesday.
Group Captain Shiv Kumar is an alumnus of National Defence Academy (NDA) and was commissioned in the Helicopter stream of IAF on June 19, 1999. He is a qualified Flying Instructor and Experimental Test Pilot with over 4,500 hours of operational and instructional flying experience.

The officer has held a variety of operational and instructional appointments. He has been an instructor at basic Flying Training School and participated in the UN mission in Sudan.
The Officer has also commanded a front line Helicopter Unit. Prior to this appointment, he was in charge of the helicopter operations in Eastern Air Command.
