Green Vigil conducts water analysis, citizens outreach drive at Futala lake in Nagpur

Nagpur News : The growing concern for clean water bodies in the city has been widespread for quite some time. Sunday saw some happening moments in this regards as Green Vigil Foundation in association with World Water Federation, USA conducted water monitoring and citizen outreach campaign at Futala Lake.

During the campaign, the members of Green Vigil Foundation analyzed lake water for parameters such as dissolved oxygen, turbidity, pH value, and temperature. Members also interacted with citizens there in regard to conservation of lakes and highlighted the significance of lake ecosystem and biodiversity. The people around the lake were more than excited to be the part of the noble campaign.

Dr.Kavita Rattan, Founder Green Vigil informed that their organization is conducting water monitoring programme since last six months. She affirmed that the quality of Futala lake has improved as compared to what was found after last Ganesh Visarjan. The dissolved oxygen  level which was reported to be down by 40 % after Ganpati & Devi visarjan has regained significantly.

The campaign was conducted under the guidance of Kaustav Chatterjee, Founder & Vrushali Shrirang, team leader. The programme was supported by Daksha Borkar, Sandesh Sakhare, Abhilash Dhote, Anjali Lohakare, Sneha Malatpure, Kalyani Yede, Viswajit Paikrao, Dadarao Mohod, Ashish Salwatkar, Tanmay Srivastav, Rohini Dable, Shravani Pande, Payal Chanda, Rahul Rathod, Shrusti Kale, Priyanka Amule, Shrushti Parchake and Viswajit Jungle.
