Gujarat polls: EVM malfunctions in Surat, replaced,12.9 Per Cent Voter Turnout Recorded in First 3 hours

Gujarat first phase voting update: In the first three hours of polling in the phase I of Gujarat polls, 12.9 per cent voter turnout has been recorded.

A faulty electronic voting machine in Sardar Patel Vidyalaya booth in Surat’s Varaccha has been replaced.

“Have replaced two machines and one VVPAT, you cannot really call it a technical error, these are electronic items there can be some issues. Now everything is okay and voting has started,” said Vipul Goti, master trainer, Election Commission in Surat’s Varaccha.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Ahmed Patel demanded deft handling of EVM issues.

“Wherever there are complaints of EVM malfunctioning, it should be dealt with immediately,” Patel said after casting his vote in Bharuch’s Ankleshwar.

A total of 9.77 per cent voter turnout was recorded till 10 am.
