Nagpur: Incomplete and shoddy cement road works at many busy stretches in the city have turned into accident-prone spots.

A case in point is the VIP Road patch near IndusInd Bank in Ramdaspeth. The contractor concerned has negligently piled up cement blocks in the middle of the road and has opened the road for public at large. The move has been causing utter traffic chaos on the road and has turned an accident-prone spot.

Commuters shudder to traverse on the patch of the road at any given time, particularly in the night hours. People have urged the Nagpur Municipal Corporation to take stern action against this contractor for causing accidents due to negligence and cancel his contract by forfeiting the security amount of the contractor.

According to Adv Akshay Samarth, the half-completed cement road between Kachipura Square (Agriculture Hostel Square) and Alankar Square on the VIP Road has been opened up for traffic. Every day 3-4 accidents are taking place as the contractor has piled up cement blocks in the middle of this road. People, mostly two-wheeler riders, are getting injured in road accidents in this particular patch, said Adv Samarth.

“Due to the bad condition of the road and delayed work, commuters are facing untold hardships,” said the lawyer.
