Nagpur: The Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court has granted anticipatory bail to the alleged economic offender and Nirmal Ujjwal Credit Cooperative Society Secretary Pramod Manmode in a case registered at Old Kamptee Police Station.
Justice Urmila Joshi Phalke ordered Manmode to be present at the police station twice a week till filing of the chargesheet.
In September 2022, the Old Kamptee police had lodged an offence against Manmode and two employees of Nirmal Urban Cooperative Bank (Kamptee branch) Sachin Bhomble and Shailesh Kochankar for duping a retired employee of Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) and his daughter of Rs 3 lakh by promising good interest rate on a fixed deposit and savings accounts in the cooperative bank.
Opposing the bail plea, Additional Public Prosecutor M J Khan submitted that being Chairman of the bank Manmode was supposed to lodge a police complaint and protect depositors. Stating that similar types of offences are registered against him, Khan stressed the need for Manmode’s custodial remand.
