Nagpur: Delivering a shattering blow, the Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court on Wednesday ordered suspension of the then Police Inspector of Sonegaon Police Station Anil Bhaurao Patil for assaulting a Wardha Road-based hotelier.
While hearing the criminal writ petition filed by Ankit Satishkumar Singh, a resident of Byramji Town and owner of the hotel Papa Penchoo Oye, the bench of Justice Bhushan Gavai and Justice Prasanna Varale at the High Court found the then PI Patil guilty of assault on the hotelier. The judges relied on the CCTV footage presented by Ankit Singh and ordered suspension of the former Sonegaon Police Inspector Patil.
The accused PI Anil Patil at present is working as Deputy Superintendent of Police, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Nashik. The High Court has directed the Joint Commissioner of Police, Mumbai, to suspend Patil with immediate effect.
While speaking to Nagpur Today, owner of Papa Penchoo Oye, Ankit Satishkumar Singh said that his faith in Indian Judiciary has paid off. He expressed his wonder and said that, when we registered a case against the brutal attack by the then In-Charge of Sonegaon Police Station, Police Inspector Anil Bhaurao Patil, we had little hope that any serious penal action would ever be taken against a senior police officer. However, proving our doubts wrong, the Judiciary passed his suspension order as a punishment for his deed. We express our deep and heartfelt thanks to the Judiciary and all those who stood by us. We are really happy at the justice that we received.
