The Delhi HC dismisses Zakir Naik’s Islamic Research Foundation’s plea challenging the Centre’s decision to ban the organisation.
The court observes that the Centre’s decision to ban Naik’s organisation was taken to safeguard sovereignty and integrity of India.
The Centre has banned IRF, the NGO of the controversial Islamic preacher, as an ‘unlawful organisation’ for five years.
The ban has been enforced under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and approved at a meeting of the Union Cabinet.
