Nagpur: “Those coming in medical field should keep in mind the aim serving poorest of poor in society. Poor patients cannot afford to get care from private hospitals and institutions because of financial hurdle. The students who become doctors should be prepared to serve the poor in villages to get contented in their lifelong mission,” exhorted Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. He was speaking at the silver jubilee function of NKP Salve Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre & Lata Mangeshkar Hospital here on Thursday. A bust of NKP Salve was unveiled on the occasion at the hands of Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
Other dignitaries present at the function, held at Matoshree Hall of the Institute, include Finance and Planning Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar, Registrar of Krushna University Vedprakash Mishra, President of the Institute Ranjit Deshmukh, Treasurer and MLA Ashish Deshmukh, Secretary Amol Deshmukh, MLAs Sameer Meghe, Dr Milind Mane, Bhausaheb Bhoge, Gopal Dubey and others.
Fadnavis further said that State Government is doing its job of providing health services and facilities. But shortcomings are felt in the service. Lack of health services in rural areas is one of various reasons responsible for farmers’ suicides. For excellent health services, hospitals should be set up through public private participation, said the Chief Minister.
Speaking on the occasion, Gadkari stressed on the need to open more and more medical and paramedical colleges in the State. “Doctor is a vital part of the society. He should reach rural areas and serve the poor. Every youth coming out of medical college after studies should go to the villages and serve the last man of the society,” asserted Gadkari.
Sudhir Mungantiwar, Ranjit Deshmukh also addressed the programme. The introduction was made by Dr Kajal Mitra while Dr Nilofer Mujawar and Dr Rakhi Ambade conduted the function.
