Nagpur: In a heart-wrenching incident, a 7-year old school boy was knocked dead by a recklessly driven car near the traffic signal at Mangalmurti Square in Pratap Nagar police jurisdiction area on Tuesday morning.
Identified as Aarav Pradeep Golghate (7), the deceased was a resident of Plot No 224, NIT Layout near Dharampeth Mahila Bank.
According to police, around 11.30 am on Tuesday, Aarav’s mother Jayashree (32) had gone to school to pick up her son. While returning home, the mother-son duo was crossing the road near Shrinath Farsan at Mangalmurti Square walking. During the same time, the traffic signal turned green and a Maruti Ritz car (MH-40/KR-6557) coming from Jaitala direction hit Aarav with great force. The kid, as a result, suffered critical injuries and died on the spot.
Following the fatal mishap, the car driver, who is about 70-year old, reportedly suffered cardiac arrest and was admitted to a hospital.
Pratap Nagar police registered a case under Sections 304(A) and 279 of the IPC against the driver after recording the statement of Jayashree, mother of the deceased.
