Nagpur: The sizzling heat gripping the city seems to have claimed five lives. Five men of different age group were found lying dead at separate locations as mercury hovered around 45 degree Celsius. The deceased could have died due to unspecified reasons but heat exhaustion may be one of the causes of death. However, post-mortem report could throw light on the exact cause.
An unidentified man of around 35-40 years was found lying unconscious in front of Heera Sweets Shop in Sitabuldi around 4 pm on Thursday. He was taken to Mayo Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead around 4.30 pm on the same day.
Sitabuldi police constable registered a case of accidental death.
Similarly, a man named Mandla (around 30) was lying unconscious near Ashok Square Bus Stop in Imambada police jurisdiction at 7.30 pm on Thursday. When he was taken to GMCH, the doctors pronounced him brought dead.

In Kalamna area, a 40-year old man named Rajesh Ramesh Gadewar, resident of Minimata Nagar, was found lying dead at Gate No. 2, Kalamna Market, at about 5.30 pm on Thursday. Similarly, an unidentified man was found lying dead at Laxminagar Square, Vijay Nagar, Kalamna, at 3.30 pm. Based on information, police constable Vishwanath has registered a case of accidental death.
In the fifth incident, an unidentified man around 25 years of age was found lying dead at Mela Ground, Motha Tajbagh around 4 pm on Thursday. Sakkardara PSI Pawar has registered a case of accidental death and probing the matter further.
