Nagpur: On Sunday, Nagpur was treated to a spectacular display of automotive history at the “Heritage on Wheels” vintage car and motorcycle exhibition. The event, jointly organized by Raman Science Centre and Central India Vintage Automobile Association (CIVAA), took place at the Raman Science Centre near Gandhi Sagar Lake.
A total of 25 vintage cars and 10 motorcycles, all originating from Nagpur, were showcased at the exhibition. Enthusiasts of vintage vehicles from various age groups flocked to the venue to witness the unique collection.
Each vintage vehicle had a fascinating story to tell about its life journey and major events. The owners passionately shared these tales with the inquisitive visitors, creating an engaging and educational experience for attendees.
The inaugural session was graced by the presence of Narendra Satfale, Deputy General Manager at Mahindra and Mahindra Limited, Nagpur, and Kartik Kale, Director of Jaika Motors. Other notable figures included Manoj Kumar Panda, Project Coordinator at Raman Science Centre, and Shahrukh Cassad and Dr. Anjan Chatterjee from CIVAA.
A major attraction of the event was the display of vehicles from the World War II era, drawing significant crowds. The exhibition showcased a diverse array of vintage beauties, including Adler Trumpf, Ford GPW, AustinA 40 Devon, Ford Consul, Morris Minor, Mercedes Benz 170 SD, Willys CJ3B, Mercedes Benz 180 D Ponton, Standard Vanguard Vignale, 1960 Volkswagen Beetle, Fiat Select, Ambassador Mark II, Standard Herald, Triumph TR4A, Wolseley 16/60, Morris Oxford Series VI, and Volkswagen Microbus.
In the vintage motorcycle category, attendees marvelled at classics such as the 1938 Norton 16H, 1943 BMW R71, 1944 Matchless G3L, 1955 BSA A10, 1956 BMW R50, 1959 Lambretta Li 150 Series I, 1959 BMW R26, and 1964 Vespa.
The exhibition successfully brought together a community of vintage car and motorcycle enthusiasts, fostering a shared appreciation for automotive history in Nagpur. The organizers, Raman Science Centre and CIVAA, deserve commendation for orchestrating an event that celebrated the timeless charm of these historical vehicles.
