Nagpur: The heritage walk was held at the Tulsibagh and Belabagh in Nagpur by the leading architecture firm of Nagpur Studio Sakha on Sunday, July 17.
The present-day C.P. and Berar Arts and Commerce College once was the Monsoon Palace of Raje Raghuji Bhonsle II. In front of this palace, Tulsibag and Belabagh were two gardens, along with the Murlidhar Temple and Kapaleshwar Shiv Temple, respectively. However, we have lost these iconic gardens today.
The heritage walk started from the Kapaleshwar Shiv Temple at Belabagh, where the participants discussed the significance of the place and the architecture of the Temple. Further, all of them visited the Murlidhar Temple at Tulsibagh and lamented the loss of gardens of Tulsibagh and Belabagh and different aspects of temple architecture during the Bhonsle era.
Sandeep Pathe, (Conservation Architect) explained the significance of ‘Belabagh and Tulsibagh’ as the place which led to the foundation of ‘Nagpur as the Orange City.’
The entire heritage dialogue initiative ‘The Nagpur Tales’ was organized and guided under the leadership of Sandeep Pathe, along with Mayuri Deodhar, Renuka Marotkar, Amruta Gangakhedkar, Asmita Korpenwar and Pranali Bhuskade from Studio Sakha.
