HIGHWAY OF DEATH? Samruddhi Expressway’s Crack stretching 40 meters Raises Alarms

Nagpur: A significant crack, stretching 40 meters, emerged on the Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi Expressway, prompting swift repair works. According to Minister Dada Bhuse, the crack, located near Fatiyabad village, was caused by a subsidence in the sidewall and has since been filled with epoxy material. The affected section will undergo relaying by the contractor.

Bhuse has instructed officials to conduct a thorough inspection of the entire 600-kilometer expressway to identify potential cracks. Meanwhile, a crater appeared on the expressway in Thane district, disrupting traffic flow.

Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole alleges that corruption is behind the cracks and criticizes the expressway’s safety record, labeling it the “highway of death”. He also questions Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s assurance of delivering high-quality infrastructure projects, citing the cracks as evidence of subpar workmanship.
