Nagpur: A motorcyclist was killed after he was hit by a speeding Mahindra Thar SUV on Manish Nagar flyover in Beltarodi area on Sunday night.
The deceased, Bhojraj Natthuji Mandavkar (45) was a resident of Chuna Bhatti, Ajni. Mandavkar was heading towards Purushottam Bazar Square on his Bajaj Discover motorcycle (MH-40/AF-1994) around 9 pm on Sunday. On the Manish Nagar flyover, a Mahindra Thar SUV coming from the opposite direction hit his bike. He fell off the bike and was seriously injured. Mandavkar was rushed to Nagpur Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Dhantoli, but on the way, he succumbed to his injuries.
Following a complaint lodged by Rahul Shankar Hiwrade (38), brother-in-law of the deceased and a resident of Brahmni, Kalmeshwar, Beltarodi Police registered a case under Sections 279, 304 (A) of the Indian Penal Code against the SUV driver.
Scooter rider knocked dead in Hingna
A middle-aged man was killed after being hit by a speeding car near Guru Kripa Dhaba on Wardha Road in Hingna Police Station area on Sunday night. The car driver sped away fearing arrest.
Identified as Baba Gopalrao Dahane (45), the deceased was a resident of Rui Panjari. Dahane was returning home on his Honda Activa (MH40/BR-1015) around 10.45 pm on Sunday. A rashly-driven car hit his scooter from behind. After he fell off and received serious head injuries, the car driver fled the spot. Some passers-by rushed Dahane to All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences where the doctors declared him dead on admission.
After recording the statement of Rajiv (52), elder brother of the deceased, Hingna Police registered a case of hit-and-run under Sections 279, 304(a) of the Indian Penal Code, read with Sections 134, 177 and 184 of the Motor Vehicle Act, and launched a search for car driver.
