Nagpur: Sunday proved to be a wet day as heavy rain battered Nagpur and thus spoiled the holiday mood of Nagpurians. Of course, citizens heaved a sigh of relief as monsoon rain made a comeback and turned hot and humid weather into a cool one.
As per the prediction of India Meteorological Department (IMD), Nagpur received heavy rain on Sunday. This is likely to continue on Monday too. On Sunday, Nagpur received the highest 26 mm rainfall in Vidarbha followed by Wardha (25 mm), Amravati (24 mm), Yavatmal (23 mm), Gondia (2 mm) and Akola (0.2 mm), which also recorded rains. According to the Weather Department, there will be another spell of rain on Monday also; and again the dry spell will prevail from September 6. Rain may return between September 17 and 19.
In the last 24 hours, Chandrapur received the highest 54.3 mm rainfall. Yavatmal (29 mm), Nagpur (27.9 mm), Wardha (25.4 mm), Amravati (24 mm), Gondia (14.8 mm), Washim (12.4 mm) and Bramhapuri (10.4 mm) received rains in double digit in last 24 hours. Due to cloudy weather and rains, the maximum temperature all over Vidarbha took a steep dip on Sunday.
Wardha recorded 25.8 degrees Celsius on Sunday which was the highest 10.1 degrees dip in just 24 hours. Chandrapur took a 9.8 degrees Celsius dip in last 24 hours, followed by Nagpur (9.3 degrees Celsius dip), Yavatmal (8.5 degrees Celsius), Amravati (7.2 degrees Celsius), Gondia (7.0 degrees Celsius), Akola (6.9 degrees Celsius), Washim (3.0 degrees Celsius) and Buldhana (2 degrees Celsius). Due to rains, the relative humidity is also 70% mark in all over Vidarbha on Sunday.
