Nagpur: The Election Commission of India has prescribed procedures for voters exercising their right to vote among senior citizens including citizens who are above 85 years of age and divyang voters and voters appointed on election duty.
To ensure that no voter should be deprived of his right in the Assembly elections, the benefit of home voting is being made available to the voters who are above 85 years of age and with disabilities, informed District Election Officer and Collector Dr Vipin Itankar to the officials.
Dr Itankar conducted a meeting of the officials related to Assembly constituencies of Nagpur district. Dr Itankar instructed them to make the Form 12-D available for home voting. He asked officials to take care to ensure that all the BLOs with 12-D form should reach the eligible voters in their areas. The Election Commission of India has provided the facility of postal voting for the officers and employees on duty for various responsibilities of election work.
The authorities concerned should take care to ensure that those who have applied for Form 12 get their ballot papers within the given time frame. He said that Form 12 and Form 12-A are being made available through the NIC for the polling staff who want to vote through postal ballot and who want to vote through certificate for election duty respectively. He clarified that if there is a problem while doing all these processes, the District Information Science Officer will remove those problems.
CEO of Zilla Parishad Vinayak Mahamuni, District Superintendent of Police Harsh Poddar, Additional Collector Tushar Thombare, Deputy Commissioner of Police Special Branch Shweta Khedkar, District Deputy Election Officer Praveen Mahire, officers from departments including police, Income Tax, Railways, State Excise, Transport, Civil Aviation and other departments were present.
