The four victims were thrown off from a height of about 70 to 80 feet and died
Nagpur: In a horrifying mishap, four people, including two children, were killed and four others sustained critical injuries after a car rammed into two motorcycles on Sakkardara Flyover in Nagpur on Friday night. In this accident, four people on the bike were thrown from a height of about 70 to 80 feet and died. Police said that the deceased, all members of the same family died on the spot after the car collided with their bike.
The deceased have been identified as Vinod Punaji Khapekar (45), his mother Laxmibai Punaji Khapekar(65), and his two sons Vedant (11) and Vivan (5), all residents of Timki, near Primary School, Tehsil. The injured are Mohd Danish Mohd Munir Ansari (20), resident of Raut Nagar, Dighori, Mohd Iliyas Barkatulla Ansari (35), Kamrur Nisar Iliyas Ansari (30), both residents of Ansar Nagar, Mominpura, Ayan Irfan Ansari (4-1/5 years), resident of Plot No. 265, Bhilgaon, Yashodhara Nagar. All the four injured have been admitted in Trauma Centre of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
According to reports, an uncontrolled four-wheeler hit two two-wheelers on Sakkardara Flyover around 10:30 pm. The four riders on the bike were thrown off the flyover. They all died on the spot while the four others injured have been admitted to GMCH here. The dead include a man, a woman and two children. Four persons riding on the second two-wheeler, which was hit by the speeding four-wheeler, were seriously injured.
Police sources said that the driver of the car Mahindra TUV 300 (MH-49/4949) Ganesh Arun Kadwe (33), resident of Butibori, has been arrested adding that he was going to Buttibori in a friend’s car. They further revealed that since there was very little traffic on the flyover at that time, Kadwe was driving the car at very high speeds in the opposite direction of the incoming traffic. He lost control and collided with three vehicles including Honda Splendours (MH-40/AA 8130 and MH49/AM 3805) and a Bullet bike (MH-49/BP0683).
Police sources further said that the impact was so severe that all the four passengers on the bike were flung from the flyover adding that one man with his two children and mother were on the bike.
Sakkardara PSI Mahurle, based on a complaint lodged by Ahfaz Rehman Ansari (37), booked the accused car driver Ganesh Kadwe under Sections 304(ii), 279, 308 of the IPC read with Sections 134, 177 of Motor Vehicles Act and placed him under arrest.
